My Story

My journey in yoga started in 2003 with Korean Holistic Yoga, which is focused on abdominal breathing technique and feeling the “Ki” energy, which is utilized to quickly quiet the mind, connecting to the soul level. I traveled many times and eventually moved to Sedona, AZ, for retreats and healer schools, where I learned the basic rhythm of our human body, micro-universe, which represents the rhythm of the macro-universe.

In 2008, I started practicing at Yogaworks, Bikram, Iyengar yoga in NYC, which were more of mainstream yoga branches in the west, and I received 500-hr certification from Yogaworks. I managed to teach 14+ classes a week, and took an equal number of asana classes for my own practice. I cut my hair short at that time so as not to be bothered with the ponytail during my shoulder stand. More I dug into yoga asana practice, the more I wanted to learn about the philosophy that can keep my heart lifted when I wasn’t on my yoga mat. I got attracted to Sivanada yoga which practitioners seemed to have clean-living and chanted a lot of mantras. I also started listening to Krishna Das and other yoga musicians’ albums. Something from East, meaning, India seemed to touch the right spot in my heart and I knew it would be a life journey to explore.

As soon as the world shut down from Covid on March 2020, I was introduced to Yogi Charu, who brought ancient yoga teachings from Himalaya. 7 days a week for many months, we explored asana, pranayama, meditation, yoga Nidra, prana Nidra, and philosophy. Yogi Charu naturally led me to the path of Bhakti yoga, which is a praised yoga system in the ancient yogic text, Bhagavad Gita. Bhakti Yoga encompasses all our senses, all our actions to place the Divine at the center, and polish our ego from self-centeredness. Bhakti is a bigger system of yoga that answers the questions of the origin of the Universe, the higher goal of our human existence, and how to keep our relationships healthy with other human beings, animals, plants, and nature as they are part and parcel of God, the Supreme Soul.

I live in Long Island, NY with my husband and daughter. I am eager to serve those who are seeking a healthy body & mind to establish their connection to the Divine.
